>> Tom Tancredo still having an affect on the race:

Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, who recently ended his bid for the GOP nomination for president, expressed similar concerns. He said the U.S. must find something that will be a deterrent to terrorists or face another 9/11 that could be nuclear.

"I believe that unless you can think of a deterrent the threat will become a reality," he said. He has suggested making clear now that Islamic holy sites could be targeted with counterstrikes should such an attack ever happen.

"If somebody can show me an alternative to what I'm going to tell you, then I'm happy to listen. But right now, there is no deterrent to the commission of that crime," said Tancredo.

"What possibly can deter them, if it is not some threat to take some action that would threaten [what] their belief system tells them?" he said.

I have a new name for California:

Sovietfornia

If I didn't read it on WorldNetDaily, I would NEVER believe that the government of California was going to remotely control the utilities in people's homes!

I am sure many of you received the e-mail from Roy Beck (of NumbersUSA) about Mike Huckabee's pledge.  It was kind of addressed to the recipients in South Carolina, for their Primary, but it was meant to influence everyone as well.

First, let me say that I am a HUGE admirer of Roy Beck and NumbersUSA.  Second, let me say that I have used their services MANY times, to send out faxes, especially last year with the Immigration "Reform" Bill (S. 1348 / S. 1639).  So, I am not coming down on Roy Beck at all and he is in no way naive to the plans of the elites to bring us into a North American Union.

However, having said all of that, I am not highly impressed with the pledge that NumbersUSA got Mike Huckabee to sign.  You can go here to view that on Huckabee's campaign site.

I made a comment on that blog post.  You'll find it below, from James4Tancredo.  I slightly modified the text and submitted it to Roy Beck as well, asking him to personally respond to it.  He just may.  I hope he does!

Here's the text I sent to Roy Beck:

All of the candidates - including Mike Huckabee - can make as strong of pledges as they possibly can on illegal immigration, and that is great, but I want to know, "Will you, as President, put a STOP to the plans for the North American Union?"  And secondly, "If some kind of economic, health or safety catastrophe occurred as a catalyst to bring in the North American Union, would you as President NOT allow the North American Union to happen?"  Because quite honestly, we can preach against illegal immigration all we want - Presidential candidates - but, when some engineered catalyst is put in place to "FORCE" you to bring us into the North American Union, will you say, "NOT ON MY LIFE!"

Let me know what you all think.  This is my standard position.  I know msbobbie sees it the same as I do.  Sovereignty of our country is always the number one issue (as far as politics goes).  You all know, I think, that my number one issue - spiritually - is that our nation would turn back to the One True Living God - Jesus Christ.

Greetings, everyone.  Some of you may already know that Duncan Hunter has stepped out of the race.  Rather disappointing; text below, for your reference, in case you didn't get the e-mail.

I have seen Ron Paul steadily improve in his rhetoric about illegal immigration and his ad right before the New Hampshire primary was EXCELLENT.  As many of you know too, he has always been against the North American Union.

I have to say too, that I - as the web-master for Tom Tancredo - always said, we NEED to run our campaign like Ron Paul's campaign.  His campaign is full of excitement.  EVERYONE feels like they are valued and that they are making a difference and that their contributions, whether financial or in efforts, are appreciated.  This was a MAJOR failing of the Tancredo campaign and I later came to believe that this was infact by the design of HQ.

Ron Paul was always my third choice and I had an opportunity to tell him to his face that I would be very happy if he became the President.  I think HE IS trustworthy.  Many of his supporters, however, made me nervous and turned me off from his campaign.  I have seen though that he is principled and is not afraid to offend many of his supporters.  This has been seen in the recent South Carolina debate and also the anti-illegal immigration ad.  You can research that out if you like, or I can dig up some articles on it.  Go on WorldNetDaily.com, for instance.

I also recently learned that Ron Paul is a fellow Baptist!  I didn't know that!  So, this is a good thing.  He is a man of faith, but he tries to frame his arguments in ways that all patriotic citizens can appreciate.  And we all know that he is the "Champion of the Constitution."

I don't regret turning my endorsement to Ron Paul at this time.  Of course, I will always wish that Tom's campaign was run differently, that it had someone else as the campaign manager/director, and that Tom would still be in the race stomping on the other campaigns, but, well, that will never be.  I think that Ron Paul's campaign does have what it takes to win and he is the only remaining trustworthy candidate.

I encourage all of you to back him at this time and to PRAY for God's MERCY and GRACE on our land!

Take care and may God bless America!

MEDIA ALERT

Congressman Duncan Hunter returns to San Diego tonight,

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:  January 19, 2008

San Diego, Calif.

We started this campaign a year ago right here, in San Diego Harbor, against the backdrop of American Naval power.   We launched a campaign emphasizing a strong national defense, enforceable borders and restoring  the industrial base of America.

Today we end this campaign.  The Nevada caucuses reflecting only 2% of the vote for me.   I ran the campaign exactly the way I wanted to, and at this point not being able to gain traction in conservative states of Nevada and South Carolina, it's time to allow our volunteers and supporters to focus on the campaigns that remain viable.

It's time for me to gear up for 2008's defense bill that will be put together over the coming weeks.  There is work to be done in the areas of troop protection and new capabilities to be deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. And over the horizon, the emergence of Communist China as a military super power will require a new emphasis on U.S. capabilities in undersea warfare, space, and long range air-power.

The best way to maintain a new era of peace is for the U.S. to remain strong.  Over the coming year I will endeavor to help craft a defense bill that meets the new security challenges.

Since our campaign began over 200,000 additional manufacturing jobs have been lost.  1.8 million jobs have left the U.S. for China.  This fracturing of the U.S. industrial base is a long term threat to America.  I hope that the remaining candidates will recognize it and address it.   As the senior Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, I will seek to address it.

Only hours ago a border patrolman was killed in the California Desert.  This tragedy emphasizes more than ever the compelling case for the completion of the border fence.   Since I wrote the bill that mandates 854 miles of double border fence only a few miles have been constructed.  Over the next year in Congress I will do everything in my power to get that fence built.

Finally, for Lynn and me, the campaign over the last year has shown us this: America is a wonderful country.   Our people have great character and goodness, and the meeting of new friends has enriched our lives.

The failure of our campaign to gain traction is mine and mine alone.  But we have driven the issues of national security, the border fence, the emergence of China and the need to reverse bad trade policy.   Because of that, this campaign has been very worthwhile, and for the Hunter family, a lot of fun.

To our friends and supporters and volunteers: many thanks.  And now it's time for me to focus on developing a 2008 defense bill that serves our troops and our nation.

Thanks, and God Bless America.

Duncan Hunter

Pro-Life Activist Norma McCorvey (‘Jane Roe’ of Roe v. Wade) Endorses Ron Paul for President

“Ron Paul doesn’t just talk about being pro-life, he acts on it”

WASHINGTON, DC – On Tuesday, January 22 – the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision – Norma McCorvey has endorsed Texas Congressman Ron Paul for president.

Norma McCorvey runs Crossing over Ministry – formerly Roe No More Ministryand is best known as “Jane Roe” in the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision.  McCorvey, who is now a pro-life activist, issued the following endorsement of Congressman Paul:

“Ron Paul states, ‘The right of an innocent, unborn child to life is at the heart of the American ideals of liberty.’

“I support Ron Paul for president because we share the same goal, that of overturning Roe v Wade.  Ron Paul doesn’t just talk about  being pro-life, he acts on it. His voting record truly is impeccable and he undoubtedly understands our constitutional republic and the inalienable right to life for all. Ron Paul is the prime author of H.R. 300, which would negate the effect of Roe v. Wade. As the signor of the affidavit that legalized abortion 35 years ago I appreciate Ron Paul’s action to restore protection for the unborn. Ron Paul has also authored H.R. 1094 in Congress, which seeks to define life as beginning at conception. He has never wavered on the issue of being pro-life and has a voting record to prove it. He understands the importance of civil liberties for all, including the unborn.

“After taking all of the presidential candidates into consideration, it is obvious that Ron Paul is the only one that doesn’t just talk the talk. For this reason and those stated above, I am publicly endorsing Ron Paul for president.”

James,

I have just learned that the just passed House Stimulus package intended to jump-start a sagging economy by giving citizens rebates, also includes cash benefits for illegal aliens!

Yes, James, you read that right.

According to FOX News, the plan would benefit those illegal aliens who qualify as "resident aliens" - meaning they have spent a substantial amount of time in the U.S. and have not yet been deported.

These so-called "resident aliens" also must have been assigned an Individual Tax Identification Number.

What?

Assigning a tax number to an illegal alien in-effect legitimizes their right to be in the U.S!

As Rep. Tom Tancredo said to FOX News, the bill will certainly stimulate "more illegal immigration."

James, once again this is a slap in the face to citizen taxpayers, and I'm calling on you to take immediate action with me by calling your Senators and demanding rebates to illegal aliens be dropped from this bill.

This bill easily passed through the House (385-35), and it is my hope that our Grassfire team will be able to restore some sense and sensibility as this bill progresses through the Senate.

But don't delay. Call and express your outrage today.

Thank you for taking immediate action with me.

Steve

James,

Yesterday, the Senate heard our message loud and clear.

Your calls resonated, causing a panic amongst Senators who moved quickly to close a loophole that would have granted illegal aliens monetary rebates!

But, the battle isn't over. Our Capitol contact urged us to keep the pressure on the Senate saying we have to remain vigilant in our demands that under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should illegal aliens receive rebate money.

We were told that Senator John Ensign (R-NV) is crafting an amendment to the stimulus package that would ensure illegals do not receive any benefits.

Here are the key points of that amendment:

--Stipulates recipients must be lawfully processed.

--Tax ID's are prohibited (Social Security Numbers would be
used, and although there is no mechanism for sharing
information between the DHS, SSI, and IRS, it is better
than the original plan that looked only at Tax ID's.)

--The Ensign amendment makes certain that names and
Social Security numbers are checked against no name or
           suspect number lists.

James, Grassfire is calling on ALL members of our team to take to the phones once again urging Senators to support the Ensign amendment.

Please call (your Senator) as soon as you receive this message. After calling, pass the message on to family and friends urging them to follow your lead.

++ "The IRS doesn't care!"

Grassfire also asked why and how illegal aliens can receive tax identification numbers?  Our Capitol contact said matter of factly, "The IRS doesn't care!" In fact, "Unless there is big money involved the IRS doesn’t want anything to do with it."

James, this is unacceptable, and the people of this nation who do care have got to take decisive action. Please pick up your phone and make your calls to prevent illegal aliens from receiving rebate money!

As always, thank you for taking action with me.
