John Wunderlich :: Blog :: Tom did not understand hs backers completely

December 20, 2007

Tom does not completely understand the people who backed him the most fervently because he does not understand how deeply rooted what we are up against is. He wants Romney because he thinks Romney has a chance. But I believe tthat Romney has the support of the Northeastern political and corporate establishment that we are fighting against. I am confused because he has said fairly recently in debate that Duncan Hunter is the only other candidate that is not a weaker sister. I am not ready to support Romney no matter what Tom says. I want to hear a lot more from Romney about the underlying issues I am concerned with before I would ever consider him. Please take a close look at Duncan Hunter.

  1. John, I do not support Romney for many-many reasons.  I believe Tom endorsed Romney based on the recommendation from Bay Buchanan.  There are reasons, which I will not delineate here.

  2. I wish he had not endorsed anyone.  I cannot fathom why he picked Romney.  I supported Tom because he most closely represented me, not because I agreed with him.  Mitt Romney is way down the list.  The next most closely represents me is Duncan Hunter, but I am just red necked enough to mark Tom on my ballot if he is there, or vote 'none of the above' and cast a blank ballot if he is not.

  3. msbobbie, it's interesting what you said in your comment.  Actually this is my plan and has been my plan all along, for the primary and if Tom did not get the nomination.  In fact, I told several people this.  I was asked once, if Rudy got the nomination, would I vote for him.  I said no and that I would write Tom Tancredo on the ballot.  It's a matter of principle.

Let's not be angry with or disappointed in Tom.  He has big plans for the future and we need to all pull together and fight.  It's our country!  Take it back!

  4. I think many, if not most, of us agree with John, Bobbie and James.  Writing in Tom's name on the ballot is the only principled thing to do!!!  John - Duncan Hunter is second on my list - after Tom!!!  Right now I'm too emotional to say that I will support Duncan - but I can tell you that I support him over all the others!

  5. We are far closer together on this than Tom himself could understand, I believe.  We need to lick our wounds, sleep it off, and take a bit of time to recover. We need to stay in contact and re-engage when we are ready.

  6. I was so sorry to hear of Tom's decision, and I agree with some that Duncan Hunter is my next choice. There is no way that I will vote for Mitt Romney. He changes his mind to match what he thinks the voters want. I have also said that I will write in Tom Tancredo on the ballot if we don't get somebody worth voting for. I think Bay Buchanan's influence is showing because she and Mitt Romney share the same faith.  I can't vote for Rudy, or Huckabee. Way to liberal for me. Both will welcome illegals with open arms.

  7. There, of course, has to be something more to this endorsement than just Mitt's "possible" stance on curbing illegal immigration.  The Bay influence is troubling, and I certainly hope that does not entail some kind of future campaign management in a senatorial or other campaign for Tom Tancredo, or some other manipulated scenario.   Tom has admitted that he has no "future job ties" with Romney, so there is a lot going on that is not going to come out for some time to come.  The underlying mystery is what is puzzling and hard to get a hold of.

I also believe we need to regroup.  I, too, would probably be rebel enough to write in Tom's name.

  8. Unfortunately and for whatever reason, Tom bailed out. No one , not even Tom, Duncan, and Ron,has come out openly with many of the concerns most of us active conservatives now have. And many active liberals share many of these same concerns. But politicians play to the middle and the middle is clueless. And will be clueless as they are more and more controlled in more and more details of their lives.
